Gifts of appreciated stocks, bonds or mutual fund shares can be a tax-advantage way to provide support to Mizzou.

Please note: You must initiate the transfer of securities with your broker. Emailing us will not initiate a stock transfer.

Valuation: For internal university recognition purposes, the gift value is determined by using the mean between the highest and lowest quoted price on the date the shares are received in the university’s account. You will need to consult with your tax advisor to determine whether to use this value or another value for tax purposes. Please see IRS Publication 561 for additional details.

Giving Block will immediately convert your cryptocurrency into U.S. dollars. These transfers are nonrefundable. No goods, services or airdrops will be provided in exchange for your donation.

The Giving Block is currently accepting: Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Zcash (ZEC), Gemini Dollar (GUSD), Basic Attention Token (BAT), Chainlink (LINK), 0x (ZRX), Storj (STORJ), Dai (DAI), Amp (AMP), The Graph (GRT), UMA (UMA), and 1inch (1INCH). IRA charitable rollover

If you are age 70½ or older, you may give directly from your IRA to qualified charities without paying federal income tax on the distribution. The amount you may direct from your IRA is set by the federal government and is referred to as a qualified charitable distribution (QCD).

To initiate an IRA charitable rollover donation to Mizzou, please use the following tax information.

To receive more instructions on completing an IRA charitable rollover donation or to notify Mizzou of your intent to issue an IRA charitable rollover donation, please email Gift Services.

Crowdfunding

Crowdfunding has been part of Mizzou’s story since 900 Boone County citizens founded the university in 1839. Today, that tradition lives on through Raise the Roar, our fundraising platform where alumni and friends support the passions that matter most to them.

Raise the Roar is the official crowdfunding platform of Mizzou and is an opportunity for Mizzou Tigers to inspire change by both donating to and fundraising for the causes they are most passionate about.

In-kind

Mizzou accepts donations of personal property often referred to as “gifts in kind.” These items must support our academic mission and include things such as book collections, artwork, equipment, farm animals and other items that Mizzou would otherwise need to purchase.

See our section on stock and cryptocurrency for that type of gift in kind.

See IRS Publication 526 for additional information.

Mizzou faculty and staff payroll deduction

University of Missouri faculty, staff and retired employees can give through payroll deduction. To get started, enroll online or complete our payroll deduction form.
