Matt Osterthun

Matt Osterthun provides strategic vision and leadership to development professionals supporting the University of Missouri’s colleges and schools, MU Extension, and Missouri 4-H. Working closely with the vice chancellor for Advancement, academic and advancement leaders, and campus partners, he brings a deep understanding of Mizzou and a history of building meaningful philanthropic partnerships in support of the university.
Osterthun joined Mizzou in 2015 as chief development officer for the Sinclair School of Nursing and the School of Health Professions. Two years later, he became senior director for Advancement in the College of Engineering and was named the college’s executive director for Advancement in 2021. From 2022 until his return to Mizzou in 2026, he served as assistant vice president of sales and marketing at Innovated Holdings.
Before joining the university, Osterthun served as the first foundation development officer and volunteer coordinator at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton, Missouri. He holds a bachelor’s degree in recreation administration and a master’s degree in recreation management from Pittsburg State University.
