Mizzou Student Experience
Many life lessons take place outside the classroom. At Mizzou, we call these lessons the Mizzou Student Experience. Donors support this part of an MU education through gifts to Student Affairs. The busy office of Student Affairs manages the residence halls, coordinates more than 400 student organizations and offers opportunities for meeting new people, learning and leading.
Student Affairs welcomes private gifts, especially for these priorities:
Distinguished speakers series
Mizzou Convocations, the university's distinguished speakers series, will connect national and international leaders with students in a compelling dialogue. The series will feature pre-eminent scholars, scientists, business leaders, politicians, artists and writers and is open to all Mizzou students.
Leadership development
Leadership experiences help students meet their personal, academic and professional goals. By enhancing existing programs and developing new ones, we can help more students find leadership opportunities and hone their organizational skills. Mizzou's student leadership initiatives and programs include the Chancellor's Leadership Class, Emerging Leaders, Greek Life, Global Leadership Program, leadership workshops and the Leadership Certificate Program.
New Student Center
A new student center graces the corner of Hitt and Rollins streets, site of the former Brady Commons. Opening in phases in 2009 and 2010, the new building doubles the space of Brady Commons, with ample room for studying, socializing and working together. Many of Mizzou's 400 student organizations keep offices in the center, including Greek Life and student media, such as the Maneater, KCOU and MUTV. Soon our students will enjoy diverse dining experiences that include a reborn Shack. Donors can write their names on the wall of the Shack, or, for a larger gift, name a room.
Mizzou Student Experience Fund
Successful students graduate with the ability to make a difference in the world around them. From where students live and eat to where they study and play, Student Affairs strives to maintain a positive living and learning environment that results in healthier, happier students. Gifts to the Mizzou Student Experience Fund provide resources for important programs and projects that enhance the Mizzou experience. Through this fund, we can meet an urgent need or take advantage of an unplanned opportunity.
