As the school year comes to a close, University of Missouri staff, faculty and students reflect on the university’s many achievements and successes from this past year. The Chancellor’s Society 11th Annual Luncheon and New Member Convocation
Chancellor’s Society members will gather at the Residence on Francis Quadrangle on Saturday, April 28, at the invitation of Chancellor Brady J. Deaton and Mrs. Anne Deaton and the Chancellor’s Fund for Excellence Development Committee. They will recognize new Chancellor’s Society members. Following the convocation, the members will walk to Reynolds Journalism Institute for lunch and to hear from several students who have benefitted from scholarships from the Chancellor’s Fund. The Gentle Doctor Benefit
A long-standing tradition at the College of Veterinary Medicine, the non-profit gala will take place on Saturday, April 21. The event supports the college and its students. Proceeds from the gala have been used to establish an endowed fund for veterinary medical students. Additionally, funds from the gala allow the college to award one scholarship on an individual basis each year. The 42nd Annual Jefferson Club Dinner
Following the New Member Convocation, Dr. Deaton and Jefferson Club members will gather for an evening of cocktails, dinner and sharing MU nostalgia. This year’s Thomas Jefferson Distinguished Visiting Lecturer is Major Garrett, BJ ’84, BS Political Science ’84. Currently, Garrett serves as the congressional correspondent at National Journal in Washington, D.C.

The 8th Annual Legacy Society Event
Legacy Society members will gather for a reception and brunch on Sunday, April 29 to highlight one of MU’s stellar collaborative research efforts – the Comparative Orthopaedic Laboratory, a research laboratory involving the College of Veterinary Medicine, the School of Medicine and the College of Engineering. James (Jimi) Cook, DVM ’94, PhD ’93, director and co-founder of the Comparative Orthopaedic Laboratory is the featured speaker. The program also will feature music by the Naturelles, Mizzou’s premier all-female a cappella ensemble. The 7th Annual Legacy Teachers Luncheon
The MU School of Medicine celebrated the seventh annual Legacy Teachers luncheon on April 5, 2012. The Legacy Teachers program was created in 2005 to recognize patients who serve as some of the best and most memorable teachers for our future physicians. Each year, third-year medical students invite and reflect on patients who have had a lasting impact on their ability to provide patient-centered care.
